Sparkology

Sparkology differentiates itself from other online dating sites as the hub for young, successful professionals in big cities. The front page helps define the site, including both an animation video to convey the Sparkology value proposition and information about how their site encourages high quality matches. I think their decision to control who joins the site and to limit the potential matches might actually help find you someone worthwhile… or at least someone with “potential”.

One of the most unique aspects of the site is how restricted it is. Each member is handpicked, and you can only register if you were invited by a friend. Otherwise, you must apply for an invite and their staff personally screens every applicant. Not only that, but all of Sparkology’s men are verified grads of top universities. This means that women don’t have to put up with a barrage of messages from unqualified men. While other sites focus on giving you a huge pool of potential relationships, Sparkology narrows it down to the ones who they think will be best for you. After a quick, no-nonsense registration, the dashboard uses a behavioral algorithm to present you with the most highly-qualified candidates in your city. This feels very familiar if you’ve ever used Netflix or Pandora to help you discover movies or music.

Sparkology Rules

You might be wondering how Sparkology saves you from hundreds of boring or just plain bad messages. The site has different pricing structures for men and women. Each time a guy sends an initial message to a woman, it costs money, so he ascribes a tangible value to it and is dissuaded from sending out a barrage of junk mail. Women are more likely to respond, and men are more likely to put thought into their messages. If the woman responds or if the woman initiates, the conversation continues for free. Just signing up is free, and all men and women are given the opportunity to try out the site before they pay for anything. Sparkology offers a no-hassle refund policy if you’re unhappy for any reason.

While some of the buttons or graphics on the site look a little unrefined, it’s all forgivable considering most of it seems to “just fit.” Their blog- where they have almost daily updates about dates, dating, or relationships- is different enough to make it distinctive, but not so different that it doesn’t belong.

The site also has an offering I don’t think any other site can match, and that is personal concierges to help you with any questions you could have about courtship. Although the site charges for the concierge services, their concierges are qualified experts. The online and the dating concierge have both made appearances on television and are published writers in the dating field. Starting at only $29 while the site is still in Beta, the concierges are rather inexpensive, but the price can escalate quickly depending on how much you want from them. While in Beta, Sparkology itself is relatively inexpensive as well. Women only pay $15 per month, while men pay $15 for every 5 sparks (to initiate conversations with 5 different women). I would definitely check the site out, even if they don’t have as many members as the other sites. Especially since the main draw is the quality of their members, not the quantity.

Kizmeet.com

As soon as I read the URL, I wondered if this site was for people who literally wanted to get married immediately; Because usually most online dating sites allow people to get to know each other or just be in a friendly relationship. No one is ever certain who they want to marry for some time. Now you are not actually forced to marry people on kizmeet.com.

It is perfectly alright to find friends first, and then maybe build it into a stronger relationship some day. The URL can just be a little misleading. Anyways, you know what the dating website is used for, but is it easy and efficient? Well, not really at first. You are pretty much blocked off from everything as a guest. None of the additional pages are available until you actually sign up. You can still look at some informative pages but they really are no help at all. The only way to find anything out is to actually join on the spot, which is a pain.

Kizmeet Dating Site

Once you sign up, which actually takes about 30 seconds, you will see how bare and empty the site looks. You have a pathetic menu with no options and the ability to only edit your information, upload pictures, and browse other profiles. It’s very “original.” The only somewhat interesting thing that can be seen is a power points system. It’s hard to tell how this works, but it seems that the more pictures you upload and the more people see your profile equals more points and thus higher level social standing on the dating website. You will be sure to get a lot more attention with a high level social status. Besides that, there really is not anything else to touch down on. At least they have a blog updating you with current information (last update was on August 28th.)

Pros
-Okay layout
-Social Status Level System
-Free

Cons
-Empty. Bare.
-No features.
-Hardly any information

The only real good things that can be said about kizmeet.com are that it is free, it has plenty of different kinds of people and all are different in their own respective ways.

Overall Rating: 5/10

Matchmaker.com is another one of the simplistic dating websites. Its layout is a clean white, with not much else. There’s some neat designs here, but no information on the front page. You can infer what the site is for, but the lack of information is really a killer for some websites.

It’s good to know just what you can expect from a website – especially a dating one; because, choosing someone to have a relationship with is definitely an important decision. So, you want to be sure you’re with a website that will have someone you’re looking for.

It didn’t take long to notice something very odd about this site. It appears to be the exact same site as Date.com. They appear to be with the same company, so you can expect both of them to be pretty much clones of each other. This is a good way for a company to get more publicity – but it’s a bit confusing. It’s really up to you if you want to use matchmaker.com or date.com. They are pretty much the same. They both work through an interesting webzine though. This is a pretty unique feature, because not many sites have their own website dedicated to a blog type form. Some dating websites have blogs some times, but nothing like this. Looking around the webzine, I see there are plenty of different things to browse – like: Success stories, Advice, Horoscopes, Dating tips, and random articles dealing with the site. You can search the member database from here too – which is weird, since you can’t even do that on the actual site without signing up.

The sign up process is pretty slow – but you can skip most things. When you get to the end you can finally start browsing the website as a free member. It’s pretty plain overall; nothing much but white background. There is around 4000 people on usually – which are okay numbers. There’s not much you can do as a free member though. Sure, you can browse members and the site, post your profile, and ‘flirt.’ But you also have the option to upgrade to a Gold account. With your Gold account you will receive: Email sending, instant messages, audio/video messaging, more search results, and chat rooms. It’s a considerable boost, but of course it is going to cost you.

1 month for $34.95
3 months for $69.95
6 months for $99.95

prices, but there are much worse elsewhere. You’re getting a pretty good deal here. Overall, the Gold services are good, but you just have to be willing to pay for them. Being a free member almost isn’t worth it because of the boring website and limited options.

Pros
-Lots of Gold Membership Features
-Decent Member Database
-Webzine

Cons
-Boring Layout
-No information Beforehand
-Lousy Free Membership

Overall Rating: 6/10

Match.com is one of the oldest dating websites, yet it is still quite popular today because it has grown with the times. One of the nice things about Match is that it will provide you with really clean, well-organized results.

Each time that you receive search results from this online dating site you will be given the person’s username, age, age of the person they are looking to meet (a great feature in and of itself), description and location. You will then be given the option to send an email, chat with the person if they are online, wink at the person, leave them a voicemail or add them to your favorites. Another great feature that Match.com offers is that once you send a member an email you will get a list of other members whose profiles are similar to the person that you just emailed. While some people may not like this feature, it is nice because you will be able to easily find other people who you may be interested in talking to.

With Match.com you will also have the opportunity to get to know yourself better through quizlets. These are both easy and fun. The belief is that once you get to know yourself better, you will be able to find someone else whom you will know is of interest to you easier. Of course, this is also a lot of fun too. In fact, this website is actually very rich with features. Unfortunately, you need to be aware that a lot of these features are going to cost you extra money, beyond what you will pay for your subscription, though
