I was surprised at how much the dating site presented itself as a forum on the front page. It really had the appearance and layout that you would expect to see on many types of forums. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s just a little odd to look at until you grow accustomed to it. Well, the only way you’ll be able to get used to, is by being a part of the site for some time to come, which is something that you have to decide for yourself.

The one thing I do like, is that plenty of fish lists all the rules immediately, so you know just what is tolerable and what isn’t. They state right on the front page that they don’t prevent nonpaying members from contacting paying members. This is an amazing feature, as it’s true that almost every dating site does this. It’s definitely a special feature that makes this dating site different and special from any other one out there. You won’t find many that let you contact every member of the site without a catch. The site is extremely against scams, so you know you’re in good hands when you’re joining plentyoffish.com. You’ll be communicating with legit singles, and most likely getting the results you desire. There’s a few preview profiles on the front page as well, to show you how things are basically setup. It is always excellent to get a look into a website before even signing up, it helps build a better relationship with the user.

There’s a whole bunch of different pages to go through during the sign up process. The first page is a quick, 30 second input, and the rest plays out like a survey. It does help you get more matches, and overall increases the effectiveness of the site, but it’d be nice if they let you fill in the information later for once. When you’re all finished, you get a results page, which lists what the site thinks what kind of person you are. It’s..an interesting feature I haven’t seen before. Plenty of fish has many nice things to offer, like testimonials to prove its worthiness, and a special ‘points system’ that allows you to purchase virtual gifts for other members. There’s plenty of things available for a member, like messaging, mail, browsing, and photos. The only thing that could be improved on is the layout and style. For some people, they may actually prefer it above a regular website. Interestingly, I couldn’t seem to find any links for upgrading your profile, which is a little odd.

Most importantly though, Plenty of Fish is for anyone looking for a mate. There’s tons of members on here, and lots of potential people to meet. No matter what gender, or ethnicity you are, there’s most likely someone on here that will take a liking to you.

As I usually do with new free dating sites, I give them a rating based on a first impression. What the site looks like right away, is a very crucial thing that most sites need to give attention to. Without a very attractive front page, a dating website can’t expect to draw in lots of members further into the services.  Well, Mingle2.com definitely has a wicked layout. It’s different from every matchmaking site I’ve seen so far, and it instantly makes me want to find more out about the site. The front page has a very nice orange and black combo color spread, which is very unique. There’s plenty of information right away, to let you know what the site is all about, and what you’re on there for (which you should already know, if you intentionally went there.) There’s a search option, to limit your searches, or you can scroll down and search by major cities in every state. It’s easy, it has a very pleasant layout, it’s well informative, I can’t wait to see what the site has to offer.

The sign up process takes very little time to complete; probably 3 minutes at most if you choose to fill in all of your personal information right away. If you do that though, the  site can instantly match you up with singles that meet your personal preferences – a very handy feature! Now, the search through member options begins. As far as options for matchmaking go, it’s pretty basic.

There’s an immense forum to post on about your interests, or whatever else you like. You can meet people there who may like exactly what you do, or you can just browse the member database to find someone that interests you. You can easily send mail to anyone you like, and receive messages in return. You can upload photos, and look at other member profile photos. Like I said, it’s pretty basic. I could ask for more, but mingle² is just so welcoming that it’s hard to consider the lack of options a fault.

Mingle2 is completely free , everything you see, is what you get for life; unless they decide to upgrade the site in the future. Otherwise, everyone is equal here. The layout is excellent, and there’s a very nice feel to the whole site. They’re a little short on membership features, but there’s enough to help you find someone you can be happy with.

There are thousands of members to browse and find an interest in, and hopefully you can find your perfect love from there. Now, for the basis and layout of the site. From what I can see on the front page there isn’t a lot of variability. You have your white background and such, but plenty of information with it. The site has been up for ten years now, with plenty of success stories to prove it. Success is key with a site and date.com has it. Keep in mind how popular or effective a dating website is before jumping into it- it would be a shame to waste time and money. I found one interesting quote the site makes, “The majority of our members are college educated professionals who live in large cities or nearby suburbs.” Is this true? Hard to believe? That is up to you to decide. If you are interested in the same sex, don’t worry, because this site also accepts those kinds of relationships as well.

The sign up process is pretty basic with the simple questions like what you’re interested in and what you want in your partner, etc. It could take you from five to ten minutes depending on how thorough you want to be with your sign up. If you just want to find out what the interior of the site is like you can skim through most of the sign up pretty easily. The site is pretty much the same all-around. It looks and feels the same no matter what you are doing. It doesn’t look half-bad though, I will admit. To give you an idea of the amount of members you will encounter – over 20,000 new members sign up every week. After ten years the site is still constantly growing. As far as what you can do with your free profile, it is pretty limited. Being a guest member, you can: Flirt; Look at date info; and post a profile. You almost HAVE to upgrade to Gold if you want any success here. That’s going to cost you, of course. One thing that’s definitely worth noting is the toolbar available for download. The toolbar is linked directly to the site and lets you know if you have alerts or messages etc, and it always allows you to be online even if you don’t actually have the site up. Useful right? As you can see the pros outnumber the cons, meaning the website must be pretty good. It is a very well made and respectable matchmaking place. If you are someone who enjoys free features though and still finding success then you will have to look elsewhere. The only way you’ll get to know someone here is by paying first. This site also has a twin site called matchmaker.com which I didn’t like at all. On account of the information that is given here though, I will be more lenient and say this is the better of the two.

The word mingle means “to bring or combine together or with something else.” In terms with the dating website, it means to bring people together. Aw, how cute. In all seriousness though – can this site do what their URL implies? A look around the is sure to answer that. At least you can browse all the contents of the site even without signing up.  The front page is..cluttered, to say the least. It’s a mediocre layout and color scheme with bunches of information scattered throughout. You’ll find the menu, search bar, lots of annoying tags, and some popular singles towards the bottom. There is one informatory snippet though that lets you know all of the features available on the site – for free.

Everything that is available to a free member is as follows:  free online dating, blogs, clubs, groups, social networking, parties, tagging,matchmaking, free personals, chat, and forums. I’m always intrigued by forums and chat rooms because they tend to be a leading factor in most dating websites. Since a lot of free dating sites don’t have these things – it may be worth your time to look into mingles.com just to take a peak at all the tools and features they offer. If you don’t know – groups are made by people who bring other people with a common interest together (There’s that mingle definition again!). This could also be a way to find a single who is into the same stuff that you are. You can easily join an existing group, or make a new one! The groups vary extremely – from “Dog People” to “FireFighterMatch”. You can expect the forums to be pretty average – lots of different subjects and things to post about. If forums and groups are not intimate enough for you – then you can always visit the video chat rooms.

If you are someone out there seriously looking for a lasting relationship – be careful at what singles you get interested in. There are a lot of people on online dating websites (including this one) who just wish to advertise themselves – posting smut, etc. I already noticed several people like that – who just like to flirt with as many people as they can. This matchmaking website could be a somewhat enjoyable experience, as long as you find a single that can give you a lasting relationship. Well – I’ve already went over everything the site has to offer, completely free of charge too. So there is not much more to touch down on.

The content here is good but the layout is just bad. It is not a pretty or “attractive” site, but all the free features could keep most people here regardless. This is definitely a pass overall and should be looked at at least once.

   Before getting too far into that though, I like to grade the website on its appearance first. There aren’t many colors visible, besides the menu and banner, which have the same color combination. The information feels a bit cluttered, or suffocated; but it’s still pretty easy to navigate the pages. There’s the typical search bar, and another one right above it, which corresponds to the “Date Now” feature named earlier. All together, the home page is fairly decent, and offers a good perspective on what you’ll get out of the site, and just why you should stick with them.

  I suppose it’d be good to mention that the website’s services are completely free. This means, that you won’t be restricted from contacting certain members, or be sealed off from any extra features. Everything you see, is what you get. Oddly, when I tried signing up, I received a page that said they were not currently accepting registrations. This has never happened before, and it leads me to believe that the site’s database is just too full right now, or they’re doing work on it. Either way, it was still disappointing. Also, if you want to sign up, you can’t use a hotmail or MSN email address. They don’t state why, but it’s just a rule. Even though I can’t actually become a part of the site right now, I can still see what they all offer.

  There’s a couple things that make this site unique compared to all others. I have yet to see another matchmaking website offer double dating, date now, and a unique college section. The one thing that will capture most people’s attention instantly is the double dating. Everyone knows what it is, but have they ever seen it utilized into a website like this? Probably not. The double date feature allows you to hook up with other people who are also willing to go on a double date. It may be a fun experience, or it may not be. You can’t expect every date to be a total success. There’s also the “Date Now” option. What this lets you do, is instantly hook up with another single in seconds. You’re instantly matched up, and set for a date. Of course, not everyone will use this feature, but those who are daring may want to. The last thing I mentioned, was the college section. When you’re signing up, you have the option to put what college you’re in. Then you become apart of a list of different singles who are also in colleges. There’s different categories in this section, like: Hottest Colleges, Best College for Dating, etc. It’s just an interesting feature not commonly seen.

  Overall, I can’t grade the dating site to 100 percent satisfaction, because I haven’t seen what it’s like on the inside.  Judging from the outside info though, it sounds very promising. The double dating and date now features could be something you love a lot, or just hate. I would recommend hanging around here for a while, and attempt to join up every now and then, and see if you’re allowed to yet; Because it actually seems worth the wait.

Well, they said sign up would take approximately 60 seconds, and it did. A short sign up is always nice, as it allows you to get right into the site quicker. There are lots of online interactive cartoons that go along with the site, who help you throughout the sign up and help get you going once you’re all set up. It’s kind of interesting, and different.

Hopefully you didn’t stop reading the review, because once you’re actually in the online dating site, there’s a lot more content than expected. There’s an interesting feature that allows you to take tests created by other users, so people can see what kind of personality or likes/dislikes you possess. Or, you can even create your own user test. Besides that, you are allowed to upload photos, look for match ups, or just browse for other singles. Every member also has a journal, which basically functions just like a blog, explaining different things about oneself or their experiences. The one other unique thing OkCupid presents, is an extra section devoted to random things – thus the section is called “Fun Stuff.” It has: forums, to post and start threads in; chances to win free stuff for referring people to the site; a few games for fun; and a humor and a “hotlist” section.

www.okcupid.com doesn’t appear to be much on the outside, but after the quick sign up you’ll see that there’s much more than one may have initially thought. It’s true that the layout is a little bland, but for being 100% free, the content that’s available is definitely worth it, and very unique from other matchmaking sites. The site is growing everyday and it will grow even more, if you decide to take the short 60 seconds to sign up.
